Dental college students protest poor quality food

While last year, the issue of non-payment of stipend by the college authorities flared up, Baba Jaswant Singh Dental College is again in the thick of controversy, this time due to bad-quality food being served to hostellers along with alleged use of expletives by the hostel warden.

LUDHIANA: While last year, the issue of non-payment of stipend by the college authorities flared up, Baba Jaswant Singh Dental College is again in the thick of controversy, this time due to bad-quality food being served to hostellers along with alleged use of expletives by the hostel warden.
On Saturday, interns and hostellers studying in the college protested on the college premises,raising slogans.

They said if their demands were not accepted, the stir against the authorities will be intensified.
A student said, "We are paying fees and mess charges but the food quality is so bad that every second day, cockroaches are found in the food."
She added that apart from this, the hostel warden is so rude that she always tries to assault the dignity of the students.
Another hosteller said, "If our parents come to visit the warden, she is indifferent and even the principal shows a dilly-dallying attitude. She added, "Our self-respect is at stake but the authorities don"t pay any heed to demands of the hostellers."
Talking to TOI, Dr DS Kalsi said, "Whatever food is served is eaten by the faculty and management too. On Saturday, the management of the college will be having a word with the students to resolve the matter."
